The Intermediary has published its July 2025 edition, with a central focus on later life lending and the growing complexity of borrower needs in this part of the market.
The issue features in-depth commentary on how later life lending is evolving beyond equity release into broader financial planning conversations, as well as lender responses to increasing demand for flexible underwriting.
Jessica Bird, group editorial director at Astor Media, said: “Later life lending is no longer a niche. We wanted to reflect how products, borrower profiles and regulatory attitudes are all shifting.
“The conversations in this issue show how the market is adapting to meet the real-world needs of older borrowers.”
The lead interview sees Bird speak with Gavin Hancock, head of initial loan originations at Pure Retirement, about fringe case criteria, intermediary support and how Pure is targeting a 60% acceptance rate for complex cases.
“The issue also includes insight from Jim Boyd, CEO of the Equity Release Council, and Q&As with Lisa Kelly of LifeSearch and Tanya Elmaz of Together.
Regular sections such as Broker Business, Case Clinic, Meet the Broker, Meet the BDM and Local Focus all return, with Sonya Matharu of The Mortgage Atelier and Stephen Harrison of Paragon Bank among this month’s featured individuals.
Felix Blakeston, group operations director at Astor Media, said: “Every issue of The Intermediary aims to balance broad sector coverage with deeper editorial dives into key themes.
“The July edition showcases that mix well, with later life lending explored across interviews, comment, and casework alongside our regular mortgage content.”
