The Intermediary publishes first issue of 2026 with expert view on year ahead

The Intermediary has launched its 33rd issue and first of 2026, with the State of the Nation feature returning as the magazine’s lead. This edition gathers insight from across the market as brokers, lenders and commentators share their expectations for the year ahead.

The feature includes expert contributions covering mortgage distribution, product innovation, regulation, broker business models and the broader market outlook, with perspectives from both residential and specialist finance sectors.

Jessica Bird, managing editor of The Intermediary, said: “We wanted this issue to set the tone for the year – not just looking back at what’s changed, but asking where we’re heading.

“The State of the Nation feature is about sharing that platform with the people who are in it every day. It’s clear there’s caution in the market, but also resilience and a desire to move forward.”

Alongside the lead feature, Issue 33 includes sector commentary, market analysis, case insights and business advice from across the intermediary space.

New regulars and returning contributors offer views on pricing, customer experience, lender service, and how brokers are adapting to new challenges.

Felix Blakeston, group operations director at Astor Media, added: “This issue brings together a strong mix of views from across the sector. It’s a good way to open the year and gives readers a sense of where the conversation is heading.”

Issue 33 is available now in print and online via The Intermediary website.
