Jessica Bird and Jessica O’Connor shortlisted at Headlinemoney Awards 2025

Jessica Bird and Jessica O’Connor have been shortlisted in two separate categories at the 2025 Headlinemoney Awards, the flagship celebration of UK financial journalism.

Jessica Bird, group editorial director at Astor Media, has been named a finalist for Mortgage & Property Journalist of the Year (B2B) for her work on The Intermediary.

Jessica O’Connor, acting deputy editor of The Intermediary, has also been shortlisted in the same category, and is additionally recognised in the Diversity and Financial Inclusion Story of the Year category for her coverage of Islamic finance.

The Headlinemoney Awards are among the most respected accolades in the industry, acknowledging outstanding reporting, analysis and impact across financial media.

O’Connor said: “I’m honoured to be nominated in two categories at this year’s Headlinemoney Awards. It’s a real privilege to have my work on Islamic finance recognised under the Diversity and Financial Inclusion category, and I’m equally grateful to be shortlisted as Mortgage & Property Journalist of the Year (B2B).

“To be shortlisted alongside talented peers in the industry is an honour – and I’m looking forward to attending the awards in July.”

Bird added: “It’s always great to be included in this event, and having two of us nominated for Mortgage & Property Journalist of the Year (B2B) is a great way to celebrate all the hard work we’ve put in at The Intermediary.

“I’d like to highlight the fantastic Jessica O’Connor, whose tireless and creative work is being recognised with two nominations this year.

“I’m very proud of our team, and whether or not we take home the final prize, we’re looking forward to celebrating this year’s successes at the event with all the other talented journalists that make up this market.”

Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony later this year.
